Neath Port Talbot First 1000 Days System Engagement Event

Neath Port Talbot First 1000 Days System Engagement Event

Do you provide a service or support parents during pregnancy, or who have children of up to two years of age in Neath Port Talbot? Are you interested in joining other organisations who are trying to make a difference to the health and well-being of current and future generations? If so, please come along.

The first 1000 days during pregnancy and up to the age of two represent a critical part of life. We all want the best start for our children but we know that many parents need support to provide the most nurturing environment where their children can flourish. Evidence of factors affecting the parent-child relationship, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), tell us that more could be done to prevent problems and intervene earlier when we know that there are risk factors. We would like your help to see how we can work together for greatest impact.

The focus of the event is on front-line staff, so please join us and help to shape the future of children and young people in Neath Port Talbot.

Coastal Housing: 'Resilience' Film Screening:

Coastal Housing: 'Resilience' Film Screening:

Coastal Housing are delighted to bring you a special screening of Resilience – a one-hour documentary film that investigates the science behind what happens to children when they experience adversity. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance misuse and depression. ACEs can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behaviour.

This film helps describe the adverse effects of divorce, abuse and neglect, explore the role of practitioners and communities in minimising the impact of ACEs and share how cutting-edge science is supporting a growing movement that can help the next generation break the cycles of adversity and disease. At Coastal, we want to be part of that movement and invite you along to the screening and a Q&A session afterwards with staff from the ACE Support Hub in Wales.

Together, Wales can tackle ACEs – join the conversation, join the movement.

Public Service Boards (PSB) Event

Wales has big ambitions to become a world leader in tackling, mitigating and preventing ACEs, and we’re seeing this ambition in a number of Local Well-being Plans.

We would like to invite  Public Services Board members to a national event to take a whole system view of the issues across Wales and explore how the work of PSBs can meaningfully contribute to our vision of ACE informed public services.

You will help influence an ambitious programme of action to prevent ACEs for future generations which aims to be world-leading in its scope and public service reach, as well as learning from others and shaping how you might take forward the work on ACEs in your area.

Given the unique role of PSBs in local collaboration on ACEs you have a vital role in making this ambition a reality.

The workshop will be held at a venue in Cardiff (TBC). Please let us know as soon as possible by registering via the Eventbrite link within the email and provide contact details of members of your PSB, and those supporting the delivery of your work who wish to attend.
